A Conn trombone prints the word 'CONN' on the round part of the third brace (the short, straight metal rod nearest the back of the instrument). Once you know who manufactured your trombone, you will be able to narrow down your search for the instrument's model number. Take note of the different features on your trombone. 122 rows  '6' = Valve Trombone, '7' = Slide Trombone, '8' = Baritone Horn & Euphonium, '9' = Tuba, and '10' = Sousaphone. The remaining numbers indicated the production number within the month. From 1987 on, the two-digit prefix number plus 50 will give you the year of manufacture.
